We are delighted to announce in Partnership with Lidl Ireland our new Supported employment programme, this is being rolled out in Lidl stores across Limerick in the next few weeks, this programme will enable autistic adults to gain meaningful, mainstream, permanent employment with the support of ASD Ireland.

We know that 60% of autistic adults are unemployed due to (1) employers not being able to adequately support their applicants, (2) anxiety (3) overwhelming sensory issues and fear of rejection.

We are now accepting applications through the link below from autistic adults aged between 18 and 65 years who are interested in a permanent employment with Lidl Ireland in the stores in Limerick.

Please note applicants must be able and willing to work in a busy and vibrant store with minimal support once induction period has finished.

How will this work?

All applications received will be assessed by ASD Ireland for suitability and suitable applicants will be called for a supported and socially distant interview with ASD Ireland at our centre in Limerick. In this interview we will be assessing the applicants ability to attend for a supported interview, training and employment with Lidl Ireland.

The successful applicants will be sent forward for a supported interview with Lidl Ireland, this interview will be attended by the applicant and a key worker provided by ASD Ireland.

A number of applicants will be chosen and offered a permanent contract of employment with minimum guaranteed hours in line with employment legislation. This will contract will be agreed based on how many hours the employee feels they can do.

When the contract process is completed, the employee will begin with a supported induction and supported training where they will be accompanied by an ASD Ireland key worker to aid with any communication, sensory or other concerns the employee may have. The employee will be assigned a key contact person within the store management team that they can speak to if they have any issues or concerns throughout their employment. The ASD Ireland team will then step back but can visit the store if issues arise in the course of the employment.

To goal of this programme is to ensure that autistic people can access and remain in employment.
