Accessibility

Built to be used, not just looked at.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We are not claiming we have finished. Below is what is in place, what is not, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

In place today

  • A Quiet Version you can turn on at any time. It softens the colour, calms the photography and opens up the spacing. Your choice is remembered on your own device.
  • Nothing moves on its own. No autoplay, no carousels that advance by themselves, no flashing, no parallax.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, the little movement that remains is switched off.
  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is always visible.
  • Text and background colours are checked for contrast, and text can be enlarged to 200% without anything breaking.
  • Navigation is in the same place, in the same order, on every page. Nothing is hidden behind hover.
  • Plain language, short sentences, and a phone number on every page for anyone who would rather just talk to a person.

Not finished yet

  • Photographs are still being gathered. Panels marked “photograph to come” are placeholders, not missing images.
  • Our policy documents are published on the governance page as Word and PDF files, which some screen readers handle less well than web pages. Ring us and we will read one out or post it to you.
  • We do not yet have Irish Sign Language or Lámh video, or an audio version of the main pages.
  • The site has been tested by us, not yet by an independent accessibility auditor or by a group of autistic users. That review is planned.

Tell us

If a page is hard to use, that is our problem to fix.

Tell us the page and what happened. You do not need to know the technical reason. We will come back to you and say what we are doing about it.

Ask a question

Leave us a voice message

Up to 90 seconds, straight from your phone or computer. Keith checks messages daily and will get back to you as soon as he can.

Voice message

Rather just talk to us?

Say it out loud instead of typing. Up to 90 seconds, straight to Keith. You can listen back and record again before you send anything.
