Practical documents

Two small changes that make a day out possible.

Neither of these changes an autistic person. They change what the world demands of them at a door, a till or a barrier.

A specimen ASD Ireland Autism ID card in bright yellow, showing a photo, name, date of birth, phone number and valid until date, with the ASD Ireland handprint logo.

Autism ID card

Explain a diagnosis without explaining it.

Staff at a venue, a checkout, a Garda station or an airport see the card and know what to do. No performance, no proving, no repeating a private story in a queue.

  1. 01Send us proof of diagnosis and a photograph.
  2. 02We check the application. A volunteer will ring if anything is missing.
  3. 03Your card is printed and posted. Carry it, show it, say nothing.

Where the card is accepted

Show it here and the door opens.

These attractions and venues recognise the ASD Ireland card. The list keeps growing.

Parking permit

A permit that parks you closer.

Parking close to the door is not a convenience when a child or adult cannot cross a busy car park. The permit is recognised in the car parks and retail parks we have worked with.

“Autism Friendly Parking” is a registered trademark of ASD Ireland.

There is no charge to change a vehicle on a permit, or to replace a permit that has been lost or damaged.

  1. 01Apply with proof of diagnosis and your vehicle details.
  2. 02We issue the permit.
  3. 03Display it in participating car parks. No clamp, no argument.
